About Me
I’ve written and illustrated a funny book called QUEENIE JEAN IS IN TROUBLE AGAIN about a ten-year-old girl with ADHD set on Vancouver’s North Shore. While I

don’t have ADHD, I have a daughter who does. Kids love to see themselves in books but there are few kids’ books featuring main characters with ADHD. Yet such stories can teach us empathy and understanding.
I’ve worked as a piano teacher, camp counsellor, waitress, math tutor and chartered accountant. I’ve also worked with lots of non-profits and charities like churches, schools, and organizations that provide health care and social services. While I've only been writing for the past several years, I've always been a storyteller.
I grew up in Kitchener, Ontario but have lived in and around Vancouver for a very long time. Right now, I live in a concrete bunker in a rural seaside community with my husband and Labrador retrievers and our two grown children live nearby.

When ten-year-old Queenie and her family move from small-town Ontario to the North Shore of Vancouver, she is desperate to fit in and make a best friend for the first time ever. But even before the bell rings, she finds herself in trouble. From always being late, to talking out of turn, to never being able to focus, Queenie stands out like a sore thumb. She has ADHD, and she hates how different it makes her feel. As Queenie struggles to navigate her new world, she concocts one disastrous scheme after another to make the other kids like her. Finally, Queenie must face her greatest fear of all: showing the whole school her true self, trouble and all.
