About MeI am a professor turned kid lit writer translating ideas from years teaching interpersonal communication with university students and now a grandfather to five + read more rumbunctious boys who love leaning on me as we read bedtime stories. The result is a book series that features Professor Kipper Kidd, a humble bright 10-year-old who heads up Kid Quest Connect, a thinktank where, along with his team, helps children struggling in relationships at home and school. His team includes a robot, red panda, and ventriloquism puppet, each of whom signal my own identity as educator, academic, creative, and ventriloquist.

My goal with Professor Kipper Kidd Books is to show before-and-after stories of children learning how to redeem language and nonverbal systems, social media and screen dependency, conflict management, anger, and more. The editors at Integratio Press envision additional books germane to kid communication and relationships. Now retired as of 2025, it's a joy to dive full on with this newfound love.

All books are written as dialogue with names indicating who says what. This approach was inspired from writing ventriloquism skits and participating in readers theatre in university. Educators will find Kipper books a ready-made resource for language arts where students can 'make a story happen' without a full theatrical performance. Show Less

Speaking InformationI enjoy reading my books to kids while projecting the illustrations where I can use the front of the room to move about, engage kids, and pointing to key + read more elements in the pictures. I find this works well for children 6-10 (the book's target audience).

For older audiences I inspire would-be writers, demystify the writing and publishing processes, and share my story of developing the Kipper Kidd series.

For educators I bring fresh eyes as one never trained in elementary education yet with ideas for using this series and related resources on the website. Can lead a discussion on the importance of oral communication competency in an age of increased digital dependency. Show Less
